Make Good Habits

Many medical experts tell us that regular habits of eating, sleeping, working and other activities promotes good health and longer life. Having a healthy and fruitful spiritual life will also result from regular habits.

John 10:10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Do you have the habits of studying the Bible, meditating on it, praying, praising the Lord, thanking Him for His blessings and asking for His will and guidance? These habits are God*s way of giving you a more abundant life. Do you always live like a dependent child of His? Is it your habit to be humble under the mighty hand of God?

1 Peter 5:6: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Mark 10:15: Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

Matthew 18:4: Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

1 Kings 3:7: And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

Even after he became the king of Israel, Solomon was wise enough to know that before God he was still but a little child. Going out and coming in do not seem to be great issues but King Solomon knew that He could do nothing small or great without God*s guidance. Asking the Lord for His guidance for your going out and coming in would be a good start toward the habit of asking for His guidance in everything. What a wise and wonderful habit that would be!!! The problem is that our flesh loves bad habits. We are like Paul in that and we should deal with the problem like he did. We need to remember that we have God*s help in overcoming our flesh and bad habits and in forming good ones.

Romans 7:18: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Romans 13:14: But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

1 Corinthians 9:27: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Ephesians 4:27: Neither give place to the devil.

Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

1 Corinthians 10:13: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
